10.  What is a cover letter?

There are many types of cover letters that can be created.  Normally, cover letters are made for jobs or for the purpose of applying to a university.  A cover letter is an introductory letter that explains who you are, what your academic accomplishments have been, what your goals are, and why you are interested in a university or a particular job.   If you want to develop your own cover letter, you can go to our site’s resume and cover letter, and view steps to create a cover letter and resume.  Other resume and cover letter information websites are located below on the Resume and Cover Letter page.

11.  What is a resume?

A resume is a summary of all the jobs you have ever worked in as well as a summary of your academic accomplishments and volunteer work.  Normally, a resume is requested by employers for employment purposes.  In addition, universities may request the resume as well.  To view samples of resumes go to resume and cover letter or you can go to your local career center at your high school or local community college for additional support in creating cover letters or resumes.

12.  What is a FAFSA?

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is federal financial assistance given to students based on income which is used to pay-off their college education.   This assistance comes as grants support & Pell Grants.  In addition, other financial support may come from loans, scholarships, and state programs.  For more information on FAFSA and other financial resources go to our site’s financial resources
