Test Anxiety

One simple way is taking three deep breathes before the test.  Breathe in through your nose slowly and breathe out the mouth slowly.   You should feel a little more relaxed.  However, if this doesn’t work, you will need to change your attitude and think positively instead of negatively.   Think of positive words like, “happy” or “great” or statements like “I can do it”.  Just try to be positive.

Many students experience test anxiety before taking a test, and there are different ways you can cope with anxiety.

Anxiety normally happens when you feel uneasy and unprepared about testing.  Things you need to take into account before taking a test:

  • Did you study for the test in a timely manner?   In other words, started studying many days before  testing.
  • Did you sleep well the day before the test?   Sleep meaning 8 to 9 hours
  • Did you eat breakfast?

If you answered “yes” to all three questions above, then you should do fine in your test.
